Portfolio My Jaguar S-Type – what a find!

Well it had been 13 years since I had replaced my motor. 13 years of pure joy. My everyday use Black Ford Focus 2.0 litre had started to become not a joy but an xxxxxx of annoying miscellaneous intermittent faults!!

Now is the time I thought,  I’m in a position due to circumstances to actually own my very own Jaguar! Previous stories explain it would sometime become the marque of my choice. Other marques 4 and 2 wheel had come and gone. Honda, Triumphs, Morris Minor, Fords, Austin Allegro, Nissan Sylvia, Skoda’s then Ford Fiesta, then the Focus.
None of the previous vehicles had had an “after me” life. So I decided to acquire a Jag.

My first Jag experience is another story that had made a significant impression.

A Morse-esque M II was the subject as I say of a previous story. Finance meant I could look for a very desirable variant of the M II an S-Type!

The Focus was still roadworthy just, though only worth £400, so I could take my time looking. Loads were on offer within my budget but not quite or no where near fitting the bill. Much scrolling googling etc led to a promising looking ad.

S-Type JAGUAR FOR SALE 2007 2.7ltr V6 good condition low mileage a private sale. So I rang.

Hello I said gave them my name etc. something which is not done nowadays by many people and asked for some info on the Jag.

Oh yes I’m so and so from address. The Jag was purchased new 2007 and has been driven by myself my son and my daughter. It is in very good condition always garaged serviced and I have all the documentation.

Taken aback slightly I said from your cars description etc. and the photos please may I purchase. Well you sound enthusiastic also just passed MOT with advisory new wiper blades needed after 32,650 miles. Excellent I said. I would be very pleased for you to purchase the Jag, delivery is included there is a small tool roll and a set of bulbs and fuses in the glovebox. Yes! I said can we exchange details re purchase delivery please.

I was somewhat astounded and when the car arrived it was as said and still is! It was pristine inside and out as said the tools and bulbs were there, tyres looked brand new! Almost every available extra option was ordered when purchased and all lights switches buttons relays work 100%! The pluses outshine though only slight fact that the sat-nav is not totally up to date. The only additions I have added are two magnetic vent mounted holders. One for a speed SNOOPER and one for my iPhone and a tyre pressure check systemI could not really find a better example and with a suggested auction reserve of £3,500 it is staying with me for the foreseeable future.

The S-Type is IMO a beautiful car and a suitable addition to its lineage. I do so much enjoy driving it but only average some 2000 to 2500 miles per year.
